Plan(t)ets

Inspired by botanical illustration and the decorative works of Alphonse Mucha, William Morris, art deco and art nouveau, I have combined it with my love for vintage science fiction and horror. Each planetary body is represented in this work, and shown to be consumed by some plant. It also comments on man’s relationship to nature and technology and the idea that plants could become a destructive force. Each work pays homage to the b-grade horror films of the early 21th century, while simultaneously playing with the traditional botanical portrait.
